Bloggerman is now fully indexed on Google. All of the "semi-static" pages are indexed (ie, the articles, authors). Any of the pages that are constantly changing (like the front page or article archives) are not indexed.

I've been watching the Googlebot's activity in my logs very closly... here is some facts/assumptions I gathered from the logs and the google search... (I could be way off...)

  1. One machine will crawl your site, index the page, and gather all the URLs to follow (Doesn't actually follow them yet).

  2. Shortly afterwards, the gathered URLs are crawled one at a time... each URL is crawled by a different machine and different IP (I'm guessing the machines are grabbing the URLs from a queue of some sort). Each of these URLs are indexed like in step 1, and URLs are gathered and queued.

  3. It takes about 24 hours for any newly indexed pages to show up in a google search.

  4. It doesn't seem that a tabled webpage layout influences the indexing... for example, bloggerman uses a tabled layout, and is the #1 hit for superstation red water, bathroom lights outside, why do we tip, and realistic sound effects.

  5. Naming the title of the article something that a person might search for.. and having the <title> of the webpage the same as the title of the article will help with hits.

Since the beginning of Bloggerman, I've used a Georgia font on the site. I went with Georgia because I wanted to give the weblog a diary sort of look. For the past few days, I switched to an Arial font to see if I liked it better. I had thought that Arial was maybe easier to read. But I couldn't get used to it, so I had to switch back to Georgia.

Kevin over at the Quarkomatic brought up a great question - which is better, serif fonts or non serif fonts? What is a serif font, exactly? Serif fonts are the ones with fine lines finishing off the strokes of the letters. For example, Georgia (the current font) is serif, and Arial is not.
This is a serif font.
More episodes of the animated sitcom FAMILY GUY are collected on this parody-packed release. Witness the Griffin family in all of their goofiness, as little Stewie continues his quest for world domination, Brian (the dog) downs martinis, and the rest of the family tries not to look too stupid. The series features the voices of creator Seth MacFarlane, MAD TV`s Alex Borstein, THAT `70S SHOW`s Mila Kunis, and BUFFY`s Seth Green.

This is a non serif font.

So what is better, serif or non serif? Which is easier to read? Which is more pleasant to look at? What do you guys think?
