American Dad - A New Series From Seth MacFarlane

For all of you Family Guy fans who have been as disappointed as me when the show was cancelled... I have some great news. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is coming back with a new animated series tentatively titled American Dad.

The premise of the new cartoon focuses on a family consisting of a right-leaning CIA agent and his wife, their two kids (including a liberal daughter), a housebound alien named Roger and a French-speaking goldfish.

FOX has ordered for a pilot presentation, and if American Dad gets the go-ahead, it could launch as early as fall 2004. With all of the recent sucess of Family Guy, I'm sure the show will already have a very large fan base.

An article in USAToday yesterday said a return of the Family Guy in 2005 is possible based on high DVD sales and great syndication ratings.

This is the first time I'm hearing about this new series from MacFarlane, but if it's as brilliant as
"Family Guy," I'll be looking forward to it. I was amazed that the netword cancelled the series,
but left on tripe junk like the Jerry Springer show and all those crappy reality series'. The only
reason why I haven't banned FOX from my zombie box is b/c of "The Simpsons" and "That '70s Show."
It was those two and "Family Guy" that still procured a little faith from me that the network wasn't
complete garbage. I'm just really thrilled to hear that "Family Guy" may be returning, but I hope that
MacFarlane will end up with a network that will appreciate his genius. Thanks.

Its just a new idea like when David X Cohen did Futurama, and wasnt Futurama Fanbloodytastic? I think Futurama kicked the crap out of the Simpsons, not only was it more consistent with its jokes, it was aimed at just one audience, Im apart of that audience so i understand why some people dont like it. But I believe American Dad will better Family Guy just like Futurama bettered The Simpsons ( the new episodes of the Simpsons are just bland and unfunny.) Seth McFarlane shall prove the sinics wrong!

Family guy is returning to fox or cartoon network. In a recent interview, Seth said that he's waiting for the go ahead on new episodes of FG. That might mean we wont be seein the American dad series.

I love Family Guy and i beat the new show will be just as good. But i just hope the fox gives it a desent time slot and a little puplisity and don't cancel it the moment the ratings slip like they did with Family Guy and FUTURAMA. Also i heard news the fox was planning to cancel The Simpsons and King of the Hill too! WHAT DO THEY HAVE AGAINST COOL SHOWS!!!

"Family Guy" is one of the very best, if not THE best, cartoons Ive ever seen. I was almost in tears when the show ended just when the momentum was starting to really pick up. I have, however, had my eyes brightened up in recent times because I have heard a lot of rumours and read an article that "Family Guy" might re-launched in 2005 for all the drooling fans like me. Seth MacFarlane is a creative genius in the likes of the late, great Bill Hicks because its hard to have an imagination (not to mention a set of balls) to pull of the shit he did. MacFarlane has my admiration and dedication to his works. I hope he pulls it off in 2005. Cheers!

I read online that the Family Guy episodes will not by broadcasted on tv but will instead be put directly on tv. These new episodes may even be out as early as next year. im looking forward to American Dad, i know that it is going to be good.

family guy is a great show and i think that when american dad comes on it will be just as good.....futurama is an ok show but its definatly not as good as the simpsons. the early episoded of the simpsons suck..i dk how that show ever got popular based off those episodes..but the new episodes are pretty fuckin good. Inuyasha is the best anime ever.

I hope american dad is more original than family guy,... family guy was funny,...but taking simpson plots numerous times and simply going one step further led to disapointment many a time. If american dad doesnt rip off family guy episodes ripping off simpsons episodes, itll be a huge success

Okay. So Futurama and King of the Hill are absolutely unwatchable. Family Guy was and hopefully still will be pure genius when it comes back on the air. The reason it was canceled on FOX was because nobody could ever figure out when the hell it was on since FOX kept switching it's time slot. Hopefully this won't happen again.

I recently heard that Kaiser Seth MacFarlane is working on a new show "American Dad". I don't know how I should feel about this. I just got over my Family Guy obsession and now I have to deal with this? Seth MacFarlane and all of the other Family Guy writers could spit out the funniest jokes I've ever heard, but let's face it, they can't write a storyline worth shit. Does anyone ever remember what most of the Family Guy episodes were about? You get bombarded with so many jokes that the story dissolves. I hope that American Dad can find a story out of the laughs.

Setting the record straight: Both Family Guy and American Dad are coming back on Fox, by January of 2005. A Family Guy movie was, before the decision was made to renew the series, a possible option; however it looks like that won't be happening for a long time, though there's a very good chance it will at some point. As far as a Simpsons movie, that rumor has been around for like five years; Fox has the option but is yet to use it. Check this site to see where I'm getting this from:

Oh, and by the way, Family Guy was cancelled because Fox sucks dick at setting decent time slots and sticking to them, but that wasn't the only reason. According to E! Online, and also planet-familyguy.com at some point, MacFarlane's former headmaster started a one-man crusade against the series after its creation in 1999. He wrote letters to various advertisers, and convinced corporations like Phillip Morris and KFC to pull ads from FG's Timeslot. This certainly didn't help the situation.

i dont think its a desperate attempt to aquire money at all, to tell you the truth this sounds like he's reinventing family guy, with the idea that fox will take it onboard as a new show, and due to the family guy fanbase it will be immediately popular therefore there will be faith revived in him and he can remake family guy as often as he bloody well wants, just like he should as well!

after FG was cancelled Seth started thinking up American dad

a family guy movie was in the works before the exessive DVD sales. then because of the DVDs they decided to put off the FG movie and start to make the series again. Apparently Fox has taken FG back and they have started recording episodes (according to alex borstiens website)

American Dad has been cast and the pilot will air next september.

I hav enot heard of a King of the hill movie or futurama movie but I'm sure it is possible.

The simpsons movie will most likely be coming to theaters in 2006

I was very excited to hear about the impending release of the new animated series American Dad, but lets be realistic. There is absolutely no way anything could be funnier than Family guy. Even if it's half as funny as FG it will be the funniest thing on TV, with the exception of the new FG episodes that are coming out this winter. Seth Mcfarlane is truly the man.

Oh yeah, hey Gwaven get your facts straight. It was the Simpsons that committed the plot theivery from Family Guy, not the other way around. One example that immediately comes to mind was the fairly recent episode of the Simpsons where Homer dies and death comes after him. Hmmmmmm....... now where have I seen that before?? Needless to say, the Simpsons writers did a pretty poor job and didn't even come close to being as funny. I guess when a show has been on the air for 16 years it's kinda hard to think of original ideas.

Spencer and Steve are dickless wonders. Excuse me, I had to get that off my chest. Family Guy is the most hilarious show ever. Simpsons was good until this season (Now it sucks anal wart ridden ass), King of the Hill is even worse. The fact that both of those shows are still on the air shows that their creators can give blowjobs better than Jenna Jameson. And Futurama, the one and only other funny animated show on fox was cut. This is complete unadulturated Bullshit. Thank God they signed FG back on, and American Dad will be funny. But not as funny as FG. Every single person that works at Fox should be castrated with a rusty spoon. They have cut each and every one of their good shows (Titus, Andy Rhicter, Family Guy,Futurama) for crap (Greg the Bunny, The new episodes of the Simpsons, King of the hill, American Idol). Firstly, to all the ignorant jackasses who posted that the show was cancelled due to the third season's not being good, please take the time to clean out the excrement between your ears because the third season was the absolute best. The characters were falling into place perfectly; even the Fox executives who cancelled the show agreed. But Fox did a lot of toying with the timeslots, and FG didn't have a steady schedule for its third season until the seventh episode. That, you corpulent vat of anally fisted toads, is why the show was cancelled. But seeing as certain important people have different views and don't really give a ferret's testicle what you think, the show is coming back on FOX early 2005, signed on for at least 35 more episodes.

The episodes have no story. Wow, what a smart, clever person you must be. Did you come up with that all by yourself? God, you're funny. Each episode clearly has a story if not multiple stories as its pinnacle. If you want something that centers on morals with a blantantly obvious storyline that only a retard would find entertainment in, I believe you'll want Seventh Heaven.

By the way, I talked with Family Guy...they said you can keep that bayonet. They don't much like sloppy seconds.

Seth MacFarlane is a complete genius and it is a shame that the Fox Network will not allow the show that started a revolution for all of America. Anyways its a good thing he overcame adversity and created another masterpiece "American Dad". Seth MacFarlane should recieve the Noble peace prize or something of that calibur for what he has done for everyone by creating something so perfect.

Ok..anyways....if American Dad does get screwed by fox..then it will prob. start airing on Saturday at 10:00 central for testing like the Venturo Brothers are now! Then it will prob. if its so popular like FG..it will be the first episode followed by fmaily guy...futurama..and all the other shows that i dont watch cause they suck. I mostly like Familyguy, futurama, simpsoms, lol and i dont care for king of the hill!

American Dad is the worst animated show to ever be aired on fox! It takes the few bad things from Family Guy and magnifies them by a power of ten. Its comic timing is not only fundamentally flawed but is like some sort of anti-comic timing. This anti or counter-timing takes away any hope of even a funny idea being executed in such a way as to be remotely humorous.

I can't believe how unfunny the pilot was. I had a gathering of friends who all enjoy family guy over to watch American Dad and we had to turn it off. I love family guy, but I didn't even smile once during A-D. My friends actually left to get more beer DURRING the episode. I thought the Simpsons before American Dad was the single worst and unfunny show I had ever seen. I was wrong. The set up is exactly that same as Family Guy. Loser son, crazy dad, deadpan dog/alien, talking baby/fish. Its all the same, except way less funny. The show may get better, but I doubt it. But there's always hope.

Jamie had it right.... American Dad was pretty damn awful. Most of the time the reason I was laughing was because I couldn't believe they could put together jokes that made no sense at all and weren't even funny. It was just one big WTF??? And the characters are exactly the same, it's like they didn't even bother writing a new show, just took an old crappy script and redrew the characters to look differently.

The worst part is that Fox gave Arrested Development's slot to American Dad and Areested Development might not be picked up for next year. In my humble opinion, Arrested Development beats Family Guy, Family Guy beats American Dad so it should be American Dad that loses out. I'm still mad about Futurama and if Arrested Development goes, I'm done with Fox.

Look people FOX is only bringing back Family Guy because they are jealous of the ratings cartoon network was getting and the amazing DVD sales Family Guy had pulled in. Safice to say, FOX is not thinking about the fans, it is all about the money folks. Nothing more Nothing less. If you are driven by the thought that FOX would do anything for their "fans", then you must be dillusional.
The Simpsons like other have said is turing out to be a terrible show terrible show full of jackass style comdey and a barrel of monkeys amount of unfunny guest who are either bad actors or "sports stars". King of the Hill was mildly funny I wouldn't watch it any more though. Futurama was turning out to be a hilarious show be they 2nd-3rd season and is in my opinion looking quite strong right now. Mabye Mr.Geroning can still earn some profit from Futurama, while he should dump the simpsons because he is clearly out of any good material.

I know I have quite a few mistakes on my log, but it seems there is great disregard for correct spelling here. Apparently Aquateen is "4EVER!!11". Aquateen I find is a hilarious show but it doesn't look as if it could last forever. Considering the material is a bunch of dieing and exlopding and or setting thing on fire at the end. It is a good 15 minute laugh but come on, it is not something you want to watch for several years(because you WILL get bored of grow out of it). American Dad (yes I finnaly got to the main subject!) seems to be like alot of others have said. It is just a jump at more money with recycled charater archatypes and bland "please oh please laugh for me" kind of comedy. By the way the gold fish is German (In regards to the subject log). Seth has great talent for wrinting but using another show as a dump off for rejeted jokes just does not seem like a successful path to take. But who know what the future may hold for his 2 shows. At the moment I say he should stick with Family Guy. American Dad just seems to premature. Family Guy has not been around very long (compared to the simpsons) and already has a huge fan base. Futurama had showed up much later then Futurama. Probably because Matt knew he would run out of material and or have highered terrible co-writers. Futurama seems like a great fall back for when the finnaly lets the simpsons rest in peace. What heck his up with this "jerkass" Homer?! He use to be a sweetheart with good intentions(most of the time)and bad luck in wich caused great laughs. Bart should be called Bitch because he seems to take everything from him and not try and strangle Homer with his belt like he use to. Marge has become a backround character who is their to encourage jerkass homer in situations. And lisa where did she go? Thats about all I got to say. Don't bother e-mailing me even though you probably wont.
