It turns out that sales of the ez-D are turning out to be unbelievably low. Wow... what a surprise... I didn't see this coming... The ez-D is a DVD disc that you buy for $6 USD, watch it, and 48 hours later the readable side turns black and unreadable. The idea came from Flexplay, and was financially backed by Disney. A DVD disc that you throw out? Why would anyone buy this? Why not go rent a DVD for cheaper... or spend a little more and buy a real DVD and own it forever? On June 4th of this year, Michael Eisner (CEO of Disney) said that the disposable DVD project is an idea that "probably won't work". What I don't understand, is if he didn't think it would work, why would he invest millions and millions of dollars in an idea that he knew would flop regardless? They've changed from the old file sharing network they used to be... now they're offering a new pay for music service. Here's a quick blurb from their website: Napster is the worlds most recognized brand in online music. Napster has extensive content agreements with the five major record labels, as well as hundreds of independents. Napster delivers access to the largest catalog of online music, with more than 500,000 tracks spanning all genres from Eminem to Miles Davis. We're heading out Friday morning, and will be back some time on Sunday. I'm taking my digital camera with me... (actually, everyone is taking a digital camera) so I will hopefully have lots of pictures and some cool stories to share. See you all on Sunday. Find out just how bad your addiction is by taking this Counterstrike Addiction Survey.I got a 29%, which I think is good. I like to play - but I'm by no means addicted. Also to note, the survey contains questions that are kinda stupid... I think it was thrown together quickly by some 12 year old or something. But it's fun nonetheless. Tonight, I decided to take back 4 cases of bottles to the Quik Pik (errr... I guess it's called Needs now), to get rid of some of the clutter in the apartment. I took the 4 cases (24 750ml bottles) and put them beside the cash register counter at the store. The cashier was with a customer, so I guess she didn't notice me putting them there. So I went to the back of the store to pick up a pizza and some pop. On my way back I noticed some greasy guy walk in with 2 grocery bags, and I could hear bottles clanging inside them while he walked. He took his bottles, and set them up beside where I put mine. When I got in line at the cash register, I noticed the greasy guy at the counter, getting his cash for his bottles. I saw the cashier hand him a $10 bill and some change. I glanced over at his bottles, and saw only a dozen small pop bottles - only about $3 worth. He accepted his cash and quickly paced out of the store. (I think you can see where I'm going with this). When it was my turn at the cash register, I placed my pizza and pop on the counter, and told the cashier I had 24 pop bottles, and pointed to the 4 cases. She looked at me and said "Those are yours?" Sure enough, the greasy little bastard claimed ownership to my bottles. $9.60 worth of em. The cashier couldn't believe that he took the money. And I guess I'm pretty lucky that the cashier believed that the bottles were mine. It makes me so mad that there are people like that. Yes, I know that it's not a big deal, compared to the muggings and murders that happen in big cities. But this is PEI. People aren't supposed to be like that on PEI. I didn't end up losing any money, but the incident almost made me as mad as when someone broke into my car. Well.. maybe not that mad. Oh, and by the way... the greasy little guy went to school with my girlfriend.. so I recognized him. His name was Jay. I'll post his last name when I can ask Zoe about it. The shell is fully featured... it can run all unix/linux commands, and it supports piping and redirection. You can download a copy of the source here. He is by far the most superior Survivor... he's the strongest, has the most "island sense", is the best swimmer, has the best accuracy, he's the only one who can fish, and he's got the rest of the tribe wrapped around his baby finger.Last night's episode was a perfect example... not only did he win the reward challenge (which he will continue to do), but he won immunity (which he will continue to do). This is just a glimpse of what is yet to come... Rupert will continue to win immuntity and the reward challenges... but no one seems to be doing anything about it. A few episodes ago, Jon had the right idea - he voted to cast Rupert out. It didn't work, and when they got back to camp, Rupert ripped into Jon. He was yelling at him, saying "How could you vote me out? I catch fish for you. I work hard for you..." etc etc etc. What's funny about this.. is that Rupert is a troubled teen counsellor. He's got to be the scariest troubled teen counsellor I've ever seen! Don't get me wrong, I like Rupert, and he deserves to win the most... but we all know that Survivor is not about who deserves to win.. it's about who can weasel under the radar until the final three, and then team-up on the most liked person. I'll I'm saying is that these people have got to get rid of Rupert while they can. Sure he's a nice guy and he catches them fish... but no one has a chance against him when it gets down to last few episodes. Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane is coming back with a new animated series tentatively titled American Dad.The premise of the new cartoon focuses on a family consisting of a right-leaning CIA agent and his wife, their two kids (including a liberal daughter), a housebound alien named Roger and a French-speaking goldfish. FOX has ordered for a pilot presentation, and if American Dad gets the go-ahead, it could launch as early as fall 2004. With all of the recent sucess of Family Guy, I'm sure the show will already have a very large fan base. Posted by Brad Pineau on November 22nd, 2003 at 3:44 pm AST [32326 views] Thanks to Ben for the heads up on this... I totally thought it was worth posting.Family Guy may be returning to Network TV. With the recent success of DVD sales, 20th Century FOX is considering a plan to resume the production of the ill-fated cartoon in 2005. I've been a fan of this show since it first aired back in 1999... and I was devestated and confustion when it was cancelled in 2002... so you can imagine how excited I am about this news. Also, if you want to help bring back family guy, head over to Petiton Spot, and sign the Bring Back Family Guy petition. Me, I would be awesome at Mike Tyson's Punchout (NES), Joust (Atari 2800), or Tetris (Gameboy). |
